She truly is the queen of romance and suspense, has once again graced us with her literary brilliance in her latest novel, “Mind Games.” This book is a tantalizing blend of psychological thrills, romance, and the supernatural, a cocktail that Roberts fans will undoubtedly find irresistible. I know I did.
“Mind Games” follows Thea, her grandmother Lucy, and her brother Rem. This family trio is far from ordinary, each possessing unique abilities that set them apart. Thea, with her exceptional psychic powers, is the centerpiece of this riveting tale. Her abilities, however, are both a gift and a burden, leading her into a web of mystery and danger.
The Story
As they do each June, the Foxes drive the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smells of pine, fresh bread, and Grammie’s handmade candles. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb.
Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. Though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.
The children will be staying with Grammie in Redbud Hollow now, and thanks to Thea’s vision, their parents’ killer will spend his life in supermax. Even though she is more of a supporting character, I loved her so much! She is the type of Grammie I would have loved to have called my own.

Rem’s role in the narrative is crucial, providing balance and a touch of normalcy amidst the extraordinary. The bond that he and Thea share comes right off the page and wraps you in a big ole hug!
