Pen Pal by J.T. Geissinger”
In a world dominated by instant messaging and social media, the art of letter writing often feels like a relic of the past. However, Pen Pal by J.T. Geissinger brings this timeless tradition roaring back to life in a modern and captivating romantic thriller that reminds us of the power of connection, even in the digital age —and good gravy on a waffle, I’m still reeling from what I just devoured!
This book was like a literary lightning bolt straight to my brain and uhh… possibly a few other parts. I can’t believe this was my virgin voyage into the genius that is J.T. Geissinger.
I honestly had zero clue what I was getting into with this one. Let me just say, if you read the back jacket of the book, looks are probably going to be deceiving, although in this case, that was half of the fun. I thought I had an idea of what this book was going to be like and where the story was probably headed and let me tell you, the shock factor is still going strong! I. Was. Wrong.
Set against the backdrop of Washington State, Pen Pal follows the story of Kayla, the newest member of the widow club following her husband’s untimely passing. Just as she’s overwhelmed with condolences, she receives a letter from Dante, an inmate at the local prison. Why he chose her to be his pen pal? She can’t even begin to fathom… and neither could I!
A simple exchange of letters
What starts as a simple exchange of letters, soon blossoms into something deeper and more profound. As Kayla and Dante open up to each other through their letters, they reveal their hopes, fears, and deepest desires. In doing so, they form a bond that transcends the boundaries of time and space, proving that true connection knows no limits.
But grab your hard hats, because as if life wasn’t already rough enough, the house that Kayla once shared with her husband is falling apart faster than a sandcastle at high tide.
The roof’s leaking, the lights are flickering, TVs are going berserk—next thing you know, you’re half expecting the ghost of Elvis to be jamming in the kitchen… Just kidding, no Elvis. But how cool would that be?
With her husband gone, it’s up to Kayla to try to negotiate with the repair men to get things fixed.
Here comes the handy man
Enter Aiden, the not all-together-charming local roofer, coming to her rescue. And let me tell you, you’d think he was the electrician instead of the roofer because the chemistry between them is electrifying!
But this tale doesn’t stop at heart-fluttering romance. It’s full of twists, turns and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page, leaving you breathless and eager for more. I was gasping and giggling in equal measure, and after the ending? I needed a moment to collect my thoughts after being hit with that unexpected freight train!
Geissinger masterfully weaves together themes of longing, vulnerability, and the thrill of discovering someone new. Through the letters exchanged between Kayla and her Pen Pal, readers are drawn into a world where words hold the power to heal, to inspire, and to ignite passion.
So, do yourself a favor and snag this book pronto! Trust me, it’s worth every single one of the ten imaginary stars I’m flinging its way!
