First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
First, let me tell you, I just finished this one this afternoon and this is no lie, it is a winner! I was going to do something completely different for this week’s blog post, but this novel is still pulsing through my veins, and I just had to share.
Being touted from Reese Witherspoon as a “fast-paced read that has everything you could want in a thriller: secret identities, a mysterious boss and a cat and mouse game that kept me guessing the whole way through.” This novel really does check all the boxes and have it all.
Honestly, I was sucked in from the first page and completely sunk from there. I couldn’t believe how fast the book flew by. I was glad that I listened to this one on Audible because there was never a time that I would have been able to think, “Okay… I’ll just set this down for a bit while I fix my family dinner.” No. If it hadn’t been an audiobook, those fools wouldn’t have ate!
I literally caught myself just standing motionless at the sink, water running, mouth-a-gaping while I was supposed to be doing the dishes, listening to revelation after revelation come flying at me.
Amazon Says…
Evie Porter has everything a nice, Southern girl could want: a perfect, doting boyfriend, a house with a white picket fence and a garden, a fancy group of friends. The only catch: Evie Porter doesn’t exist.
The identity comes first: Evie Porter. Once she’s given a name and location by her mysterious boss Mr. Smith, she learns everything there is to know about the town and the people in it. Then the mark: Ryan Sumner. The last piece of the puzzle is the job.
Evie isn’t privy to Mr. Smith’s real identity, but she knows this job will be different. Ryan has gotten under her skin, and she’s starting to envision a different sort of life for herself. But Evie can’t make any mistakes–especially after what happened last time.
Because the one thing she’s worked her entire life to keep clean, the one identity she could always go back to—her real identity—just walked right into this town. Evie Porter must stay one step ahead of her past while making sure there’s still a future in front of her. The stakes couldn’t be higher–but then, Evie has always liked a challenge…
I love it when I stumble upon a new book from a new author that excites me this much! I won’t say I’ve been in a reading slump, but First to Lie perked me up anyway.
Ashley Elston, well done ma’am! I will be looking forward to reading more from you!
