James Patterson has always held a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favorite authors. His captivating storytelling and immersive writing style have kept me hooked from the very beginning. I have probably devoured about 96 percent of everything he has ever written, and without a doubt, every single book in the Alex Cross series.
So how can this one be any different?
It wasn’t told from Alex’s POV …Whaaat?
I will admit, this one threw me for a bit of a loop. It’s the first one in the series that was not told from Alex’s perspective—it was told from John Sampson’s point of view, but it was like a roller coaster ride that only goes up! By the end of the first chapter, I was completely hooked and catapulting towards the next loop de loop!
What’s the book about?
With Alex Cross temporarily sidelined, the weight of the world now rests squarely on John Sampson’s large shoulders. Tasked with the monumental responsibility of protecting not only Alex, but also his family, including John’s own daughter Willow, and even the President of the United States, John finds himself thrust into a race against time to thwart a malevolent terrorist plot that has the potential to rewrite history itself.
As the stakes continue to rise, John struggles with the advice of his trusted friend and colleague, Ned Mahoney. Trust No one.
Will John be able to stop these attacks before it’s too late?

You know, those cinematic masterpieces inspired by James Patterson’s thrilling novels. There aren’t nearly enough of them in my opinion, but at least there are a few. If you haven’t seen them already, I recommend checking them out.

Have all been made into movies.
Morgan Freeman does a dynamite job of portraying Alex Cross in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. In the 2012 version of Alex Cross, based on the novel Cross, Tyler Perry blows it up with his on-screen portrayal of Alex Cross.
They’re like the fast-food version of a gourmet meal – quick, easy, and they definitely hit the spot.
Sure, you lose some of the novel’s juicy depth, but you gain the thrill of seeing Alex Cross tackle the bad guys in real time. So, grab your popcorn, settle in and get ready to enjoy the ride!
And great news! I read that there is a brand-new Alex Cross TV adaptation currently in the works for Amazon Prime Video. It’s due to be released later this year or early 2024. I’ll be watching that for sure!
