Five Tarot Books You Will Want To Read

What do Tarot Cards or Tarot Readings make you think of?

For the most part, I think Tarot is widely misunderstood. People often mistake it for Satanism or assume that you must be part of a cult if you use Tarot. It doesn’t tell your future, so you can’t use it to forecast winning lottery numbers—if it did, you can bet your bippy I’d be writing this blog post from a beach somewhere in the Caribbean!

Having said that, I do believe the Tarot does give you a kind of power. Not like the, here-is-a-deck-of-Tarot-cards-now-you-have-the-ability-to-wield-Thor’s-mighty-hammer type of power, but there is power in knowledge. There is power in confirmation. And there is power in understanding.

For you, drawing a Tarot card or laying out a spread might take you out of your head just enough to see life or a problem that you’ve been wrestling with from a different perspective.

For me? It might open up a conversation with a therapist or a longtime friend, where I might find a solution I had been looking for.

Sometimes those solutions are staring us in the face, but we are so caught up in our own thoughts that we can’t tell what’s up from down.

Here are a couple of books to get you started on your journey.

The Ultimate Guide to Tarot

The Ultimate Guide to Tarot by Liz Dean

This is a great guide for beginners. It takes you through all of the 22 major arcana cards, the 56 minor arcana cards, and gives you some basic spreads like the Celtic Cross, Horseshoe, Star and mini layouts for each of the Major Arcana Cards.

If you’re looking for a great overview of all the elements of each card, this is the guide for you! From interpreting the symbolism to the link with astrology, kabbala and numerology. Or the upright meanings of the cards as well as the reversed meaning, this guide has it all.

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack

An instant classic, first published nearly 40-years-ago, Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom has inspired generations of tarot students. Often referred to as the “bible of tarot books” it’s now helped to launch the “tarot renaissance” we’re seeing today. Drawing on mythology and esoteric traditions and delving deeply into the symbolism and ideas of each card, the book offers a modern psychological interpretation of the tarot archetypes rather than a system of esoteric symbolism. “via amazon”

But what about Astrology?

For those of you who might want to take a deeper dive into yourself here are a couple of astrology books you might want to take a peek at. Go on… Peek… You know you want to… I did.

The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need

The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need by Joanna Martine Woolfolk

We’ve all read our horoscopes in the local newspaper, online or heard them read to us on the radio. But have you ever wanted to go deeper? Maybe you’ve wondered what your Sun sign, Moon sign, Ascending sign, or the placement of Planets in your Houses says about you.

This book lays it all out. Even providing the compatibility between the signs, offering advice about health, money, romance, dealing with the negative aspects of each sign and more. I personally loved this book. It is a total recommend.

Find Your Purpose Cards

Find Your Purpose by Jess Sanders: Affirmations and Questions are cards for anyone who’s asking questions or feeling lost in their journey. Each card features a quote and affirmation with an accompanying question to guide readers along their path and prompt them to find what and who inspires them, whether that’s at work or home. This deck is here to offer a helping hand and a reminder that it’s OK to figure life out one step (and card) at a time. “via amazon”
